With the app through the monastery

VenuHistoryHörstelKloster
The Cistercian nunnery Gravenhorst in Hörstel, founded in the year 1256, looks back on a turbulent history. And this can now be explored with two new multimedia guides.

In 18 stations, "Traveling through Space and Time" interactively leads across the outdoor area and through various interior spaces of the former monastery. The route can be individually determined, with audio clips and films conveying the respective theme. There are in-depth information about 3-D reconstructions, texts, images, maps, and archival materials. The journey through the Gravenhorst Monastery is divided into two tours: there is a multimedia tour through history for adults and "The Riddle of the Green Clay Shard" – a game for children of primary school age.

The young visitors make their way as miller's daughter Clara, knight Konrad, or princess Oda, equipped with a backpack, into the area to solve the riddle of the green clay shard. Short audio clips tell how life used to be – without running water, Playstation, or fish sticks. The children can expect exciting challenges that need to be mastered not only virtually but also practically on-site in the area.

The two new apps are available in German, English, Dutch, and in easy language. And for those who cannot make it to the Gravenhorst Monastery, the multimedia guide also allows for a virtual visit from home or on the go. The programs are available as a free download, and a tour lasts about 2 hours.
