A dedicated app, a podcast, online talks, and a website specifically aimed at children – the Kunstpalast is very active in terms of digital education. Now the municipal art museum at Ehrenhof offers another tool that makes the treasures of the house – around 130,000 objects from all eras and genres – accessible to everyone. The digital collection is integrated into the museum's website and can be accessed at this link: https://sammlung.kunstpalast.de/.
The bilingual platform (German and English), developed under the direction of Deputy Collection Director Barbara Til, allows for an educational yet entertaining journey through more than 2,000 years of art history. The information offered is divided into 13 categories – these include, for example, paintings, drawings and prints, sculpture and installation, photography, glass, applied arts, or time-based media. For each work, there are basic information (artist, title, dimensions, year of creation), a description, and details about provenance.
"In addition to access to work information, images with detail zooms, videos, and 3D animations of individual objects, users have the option to search by thematic fields or eras," explains Felix Krämer, Director General of the Kunstpalast, regarding the possibilities. Since the database is continuously updated, it is worth visiting the Kunstpalast's digital collection from time to time to look for new items.
